The Business Post Media Group Appoints Richie Oakley as Editor and Chief Content Officer

The Business Post Media Group – publishers of The Sunday Business Post – has confirmed the appointment of Richie Oakley as Editor and Chief Content Officer. Mr. Oakley has wide experience of the digital and print media markets in Ireland. He was editor of The Times Ireland from the launch of a daily digital edition in the Irish market in 2015 (print edition launched in 2017) until a month ago. Mr. Oakley will formally commence in the new role in mid-August.

Speaking today, Colm O’Reilly, Chief Executive of The Sunday Business Post welcomed the appointment; “Richie is one of the outstanding media professionals working in Ireland today and he created and led a superb team of professionals in The Times Ireland. He joins a dynamic leadership team and a superb team of journalists in The Sunday Business Post and he will play a key role in placing the group at the heart of economic and political life in the country.” Mr. O’Reilly noted that the position had attracted national and international interest; “as new investors in Irish media, it was really encouraging to see the level of interest in joining this business. A number of strong domestic and international candidates were under consideration and we believe we have picked the best candidate for the role.”

Mr. O’Reilly paid tribute to Ms. Susan Mitchell, Deputy Editor, who has been acting editor at the paper pending this appointment; “Susan stepped into the breach and has led the paper with flair and distinction over the past two months and she has ensured that we go into the second half of the year with real momentum.”
