29 Nov - O’Dwyer Real Estate Management signs €2.6m green energy deal with Horizon

Deal will save clients 15% on energy costs

O’Dwyer Real Estate Management has signed a deal with Horizon Energy Group which will see over 200 of its managed properties around Ireland powered with 100% green energy.

The €2.6m, 28.8 gigawatt deal will yield savings of 15% for ODREM’s clients over the next four years.

In addition the green energy solution will save over 15m Kgs of CO2 over the contract period. This is the equivalent of taking over 9,200 cars off the road over a four year period.

Horizon Energy will manage the hedging strategy for the duration of the contract to ensure ODREM takes the maximum benefit from moving wholesale prices.

ODREM CEO Siobhan O’Dwyer said the deal was good news for its clients and the environment.

“We want to offer our clients the best possible price, service and contract type to meet their energy needs. However we also want to do this in an environmentally friendly way. This deal with Horizon Energy Group allows us to do that, safe in the knowledge that we are sourcing 100% renewable energy at the most competitive rates.”

“Finding the right energy supplier is extremely important as it directly affects landlord and tenant occupational property costs. For example one client in Dublin will see €2,500 wiped off its energy bill in the first three months. So this deal brings real value to our clients. It also sets new standards in green energy management not only for each property but also for our clients who prioritise environmentally friendly policies.”

Colin Barry, CEO of Horizon Energy said; “Horizon Energy Group is proactive in managing our clients’ positions to ensure budget certainty. Our tailored product offering has ensured a competitive renewable contract for ODREM ahead of the Integrated Single Electricity Market which comes into force as directed by Europe at the beginning of 2018. This will introduce significant changes from the current wholesale market.”

Ends.
